Built to steal market share from its European competition, Cadillac pulled out all the stops with the XLR-V making it the quickest accelerating and most expensive Cadillac to date at the time of its debut. Identified by its attractive V-series mesh grille and additional badging, the XLR-V gains exclusive eighteen-inch wheels, polished exhaust tips, and the hood bulge. Under the hood resides a powerful, 443-hp, supercharged V-8, which accelerates the XLR-V from 0 to 60 mph in a claimed 4.6 seconds. This bespoke engine was substantially revised by GM with performance parts including a new block and heavy-duty pistons to handle the added demands of the roots style blower. At the rear of the car the six-speed automatic transmission is extremely smooth in both automatic and manumatic modes, a setting that trips the Magnetic Ride Control into a sportier suspension calibration keeping the car flat on initial turn-in and nicely balanced during aggressive cornering.
