Vehicle Description Clean CARFAX. We love the Series 1 Lotus Elise, as these stand out from later cars, thanks to a Rover-sourced engine and a more rounded exterior design and they're also difficult to source in North America as they were never officially sold here. This particular example is a right-hand drive model that's been imported here and touts a U.S. title and it also boasts 15-inch alloy wheels, a removable soft top, fixed-back bucket seats, Elise Series 2 coilovers, a carbon-fiber airbox, a Lotus performance exhaust system, and an upgraded audio system. This is a fantastic example of an exciting British roadster, and I'm thrilled to offer it on Cars & Bids.
THIS is a 1998 Lotus Elise Series 1, finished in silver with a black soft top and a black interior. This is a right-hand drive, European-spec convertible equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission that was reportedly imported to Florida from England in September 2023. It's equipped with an imperial instrument cluster, and its odometer displays approximately 63,800 miles. The attached Carfax history report starts in July 2023 and lists no accidents for the given time period. According to the sales sheet provided in the gallery, this Elise had an original total price of $21,535, and it came equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, a removable soft top, fixed-back bucket seats, and manual windows. Modifications reported by the seller include Series 2 coilovers, a carbon-fiber airbox with silicone piping, a Lotus performance exhaust system, and an Alpine stereo and speakers. Lotus released the original Elise in 1996. Named after then-chairman Romano Artioli's granddaughter Elisa, the roadster featured a fiberglass body, an aluminum chassis, and a mid-mounted engine sourced from Rover. At about 1,600 pounds in its standard configuration, it was perfectly aligned with the ''light is right'' philosophy that Lotus founder Colin Chapman held dear. Production of the Elise Series 1 ended in 2001, and the model was never officially sold in the United States. Power comes from a 1.8-liter Rover inline-4 engine, rated at 120 horsepower and 121 lb-ft of torque. The mid-mounted engine spins the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
