Daihatsu Atrai of the S120/130 generation received a mid-mounted 660-cc three-cylinder power unit (659 cc) of the EF series in different modifications.
The turbocharged engine was also offered in SOHC and DOHC versions (since 1997). Both engine options have a power of 64 hp. Atrai engines work in tandem with a manual 5-speed gearbox or with a 3-speed automatic. Depending on the modification, gasoline consumption in 10/15 mode is 6.8-7.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km. The fuel tank capacity is 40 liters.
The Daihatsu Atrai has an independent front suspension, MacPherson struts, and a dependent spring suspension at the rear, on longitudinal levers.
all-wheel drive models have an S130 body index. The brakes are disc at the front and drum at the rear. The car has a very small turning radius - only 3.8 meters, which makes it one of the leaders in its class in this parameter. This was not prevented even by a slight increase in the wheelbase - from the previous 1810 mm to 1900 mm. The carrying capacity of the Daihatsu Atrai is 200 kg.
The Daihatsu Atrai of the S120/S130 generation has a trauma-safe design of the steering column and dashboard, will offer standard three-point seat belts and headrests for all seats. Upon request, the car could be equipped with an anti-lock braking system.
