This 1982 Eagle Model 10 passenger bus presents a unique and well-documented history, combined with careful preservation and upgrades, making it a notable example of this classic American coach. Originally purchased by the US General Services Administration for school transport on a Native American reservation in Wyoming, it has since been owned by a youth group, Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, and then acquired by the current owner in June 2016.The bus boasts over 300,000 miles, a testament to its durability and the robustness of its Detroit Diesel turbocharged 6V92 engine, paired with an Allison HT740 automatic transmission. It runs excellently with no operational issues, and both the main coach and driver's A/C systems function perfectly, as does the heating system. The engine is equipped with a jake brake, enhancing its functionality.Notably, the bus retains its original fabric seats, though the black vinyl headrests were replaced with red for a better match with the interior. The original driver's seat was upgraded to a more comfortable air ride seat. While many passenger seats have been unbolted, they are included and stored inside.The bus is almost entirely rust-free, a notable achievement for Eagle models, and the suspension is in great condition. All glass and lighting are intact and functional, with minor cracks in the interior plastic cap below the upper windshields. While the aluminum siding shows some cloudiness due to previous acid wash, the bus's overall structural integrity is impressive.Substantial upgrades over the past four years include new Ramco chrome power adjustable mirrors, Alcoa brushed aluminum wheels, a replaced dashboard and panels with integrated lighting, a Williams air throttle, and a Stone Bennett air-operated shifter. The headlights were updated to rectangular ones, and various exterior lights and reflectors were replaced. The front and rear end caps were painted, and the wipers upgraded to electric motors. Other enhancements include a new leather-wrapped Eagle steering wheel, air horns, replacement of passenger seat backs and armrests with new old stock parts, and comprehensive maintenance including full service and new batteries.This bus, with its history, upgrades, and maintenance, stands as a remarkable example of the Eagle Model 10, showcasing the enduring appeal and functionality of these classic American buses. |
