Vehicle Description

1964 Studebaker Hawk GT Gran Turismo 2-Door Hardtop R1 Upgraded, Ice-Cold A/C, Well-Sorted & Ready to Enjoy Beautiful 1964 Studebaker Hawk GT Gran Turismo 2-Door Hardtop for sale. It is nicely equipped with the 4.7L 289ci V8, Flight-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission, power steering, Twin-Traction Axle, and air conditioning. It is finished in Jet Green Metallic with a Green Metallic Weave Cloth and Vinyl interior and includes over $43k in receipts for major upgrades and repairs, making this special GT Hawk an incredible value. The Brooks Stevens-designed GT sold only 9,335 units in 1962 before sales dropped to just 4,634 units in 1963. The following year, a meager 1,484 Hawks sold, making this 1964 Gran Turismo one of the rarest Studebakers in existence. The 4.7L 289ci V8 (engine # PJ323) has been rebuilt to R1 specifications and performs beautifully with new cam bearings, rebuilt heads, and balancing. The engine rebuild kit included a re-ground camshaft, complete bearing set, freeze plug set, and Silvolite hyperuetectic pistons. It has a new Evans performance intake manifold, four-barrel Edelbrock 500 CFM carburetor, electronic ignition, and Offenhauser finned valve covers. Power is sent to a fully rebuilt “Flight-O-Matic” 3-speed automatic transmission onto its factory Twin Traction Axle, making this one fantastic running, excellent performing Hawk! In addition, the new dual exhaust sounds great! The cooling system has been fortified with an electric cooling fan, new hoses, a thermostat, etc., and a new wiring harness was installed. Handling is superb with a completely rebuilt braking system: Hydrovac, shoes, pads, calipers, wheel cylinders, hoses, leaf springs, and more. It is very comfortable inside with its Green Metallic woven cloth and Vinyl interior, new ice-cold Vintage air conditioning system, all-new Studebaker gauges, and a cool, vintage Sunpro RPM gauge. Please note the radio reception is weak and the clock is inoperable. Otherwise, all interior systems and components are in working order, and the dash, rugs, door panels, cards, headliner, and seating have very little use since being replaced by the previous owner. The trunk is carpeted and includes a spare tire and car cover. The Jet Metallic Green has a nice shine and presents well. It appears to be a few years old, so expect some typical flaws and wear. The chrome, trim, glass, and emblems present nicely. The car rides on stock steel wheels with proper hubcaps and P215/75 R15 whitewall radials with 90%-95% tread remaining. Overall, it is a lovely-looking, driver-quality Hawk that gets attention wherever it goes. Be sure to check out all 380+ photos and the video at www.leftcoastclassics.com.
