Vehicle Description

The Standard Motor Company in England introduced a beautiful sports car in 1953, the Triumph TR-2 roadster. In 1955, the Triumph TR-3 was introduced with larger carburetors, more horsepower, front disc brakes (the first production car to do so), and offered a top speed in excess of 100 mph with its 2-litre, twin carburetor, 4-cylinder engine. All this while keeping the same basic classic “small mouth” design of the very pretty TR-2. In late 1957, the body was changed a bit to accept the newer “wide mouth” nose. These cars continued on through 1962 when the completely different “TR-4” was introduced. Our car is a magnificently and fully restored example of the handsome and quintessentially British TR-3A roadster – Nice enough to win a “First Place” award at a show in Maryland in 2006 and surely nice enough to win awards and appreciation at current British car events. Finished in gorgeous Midnight Blue with Fawn beige leather piped in cream with matching convertible top and tonneau cover, it is fitted with overdrive, chrome 15-inch “knock-off” wire wheels wearing its 1950’s wide whitewall radial tires, a front badge bar with fog lamps, wind wings and seat belts. The car is accompanied by its original owner’s manual and an original copy of the “Triumph Register” extracted from production records. The latter confirms that the car was built in blue with fawn-beige leather and top on January 30, 1959, for export delivery. The car is accompanied by a file of service records and drives just as it appears–fabulously well!
